David Kubiak worked with the Amherst Police Department for 23 years. David retired as a detective and handled case assignments across the spectrum of criminal activity throughout Erie County and Western New York.
David was also assigned to the evidence recovery unit for the detective bureau and led the department’s fire investigation unit. Prior to becoming a detective, David was assigned to the police department’s traffic unit as an investigator where he reconstructed many serious injury and fatal crash cases. David also spent time working in the Narcotics/Vice unit of the police department and handled several multi-jurisdictional investigations. In addition to the career in law enforcement, David is a certified New York State Instructor at the Erie County Law Enforcement Academy, has guest lectured at the University of Buffalo Law School and was an adjunct instructor for criminal justice studies at Medaille College.
David has been recognized as a fire investigation expert in U.S. Federal Court, Western District of New York and as a crash investigation expert in Monroe County Supreme Court. David has reviewed and written reports for several federal arson cases across the United States.
David is a certified instructor at the Erie County Law Enforcement Academy and was an adjunct at Medaille College.
David left the police department and worked for a national fire investigation firm where he investigated origins for insurance carriers and law firms for over six years before taking the position of the Supervising Criminal Investigator at the Assigned Counsel Program.
David has testified in state and federal courts and was accepted as an expert in the U.S. District Court Western District of New York for fire cause investigation as well as Supreme Court Monroe County for crash investigation. David has testified in civil and criminal cases in addition to several depositions.
