Description of Service: 3hours/5 days at 185 Lang Ave.  Includes Math and English language and Arts enhancement. Remedial classes, athletics and recreational activities, life skills development workshops, e.g. HIV/AIDS education, pregnancy prevention, character development and job readiness training.  Participants spend 1 hour daily in academics, activities and life skills

Primary Service Provided: Academic tutoring and preparation to enter the Buffalo Public Schools 

Type of Services: Family Education

Judicial Stage: Restricted to Buffalo Public School families-children. 

Description of Service: Overall goal of the program is parents and children learning together.  Programs include, Project Spider Early Childhood Program for children and their parents ages 6mos. through pre-school.  GED, English as a Second Language, field trips, academic tutoring, informational workshops, a teen program and adult computer classes.

Primary Service: Drug/Alcohol treatment, education intensive supervision, in addition to residential, drug/alcohol, individual counseling, employment search, family counseling, living and job training skills, and religious activities. 

Judicial Stage: Post-disposition, serving all courts except family court.  Eligibility/target offense, felony, misdemeanor and probation/ parole violations. Restricted to males age 18 and over.

Description of Service: Residential Christian ministry for men with problems of drug abuse, and/or trouble with the law. 2-part program: 1) 3-4 month induction learning discipline-bible study, work, daily schedule, 2) 8 month vocational training at 220 acre farm in Rehrersburg, PA, teaching geared toward the meaning of a fulfilled, productive life, includes cooperation with local schools for high school diploma/GED.  Also counsels and refers females and adolescents with drug and alcohol problems.

Length of Participation: 12 months

Description of Service: Problems treated: illegal activities that bring children into contact with courts and police; difficult and disturbing behaviors; severe conflict or breakdown in family communication such as separation/divorce/death severe illness; child abuse/incest/rape/molestation/physical abuse; hyperactivity; not getting along in school; and depression. Client must be able to function above IQ level of 70 to benefit. Waiting list depends on client's schedule flexibility and the severity of the need.

Judicial Stage: Post-disposition, continuous service. Serving all courts. Eligibility/target offense, misdemeanors.  

Description of Service:  Individual, couples, family, group and adolescent counseling. Short and long term counseling covers: relationships, marriage, coping with loss, parent-child, survivors of sexual abuse. Sliding scale fee. Some insurances accepted, Medicaid on limited basis.  Must be able to pay at least $20.

Primary Service: Group counseling to first-time offense teens and behavioral health.

Judicial Stage: First Offense 

Description of Service: An 8 week group treatment program includes a visit to the Collins Correctional Facility. Conducted by professional counselors. Courts are given written evaluation and recommendation regarding disposition of charges. Length of time on waiting list depends upon minimum group size of 8. Clients are allowed to miss no more than 2 sessions. Approximately 1-2 groups a year. Restrictions on program eligibility are rare.

Length of Participation: 8 weeks

Judicial Stage: Pre-trial

Description of Service: Provides educational services to inmates under the age of 22 who are incarcerated within the city limits. Secondary program for students aged 17-21; GED Test Preparation program for other adult inmates. Adult Career Plans are developed in consultation with the students and re-entry challenges are discussed.

Length of Participation: Daily classes, 12 months a year. Students may attend until goals are achieved.

Description of Service: Pre-admission comprehensive assessment links client with appropriate program, can occur at office/ home/institution. Child and adult mental health, family counseling, psychiatric treatment, individual/ group counseling, chemical dependency assessments and treatment. Groups on parenting, self-esteem, living with a  physical and/or mental illness, anger management and women's issues. Medication evaluation. Medicare/Medicaid/ private/sliding fee.

Type of Service: Case management, family counseling and parenting skill enhancement.

Description of Service:  The Salvation Army provides neutral mediation to families court-ordered to develop an appropriate visitation agreement suitable to all parties.  A child-focused visitation service, this program develops agreements based upon the best interest of the child, and parents are taught to remove their child from the middle of the battle.  The program provides supervised setting where visitation can take place free from interference.  Reports reflecting quality of visit and progress are sent to referring judge.

Length of Participation: 10 weeks

Type of Service: Placement in not-for-profit agencies that provide a work experience and job readiness training.

Judicial Stage: Continuous service, serving City and Family courts.  Eligibility/target offense,  misdemeanors and restricted to ages 14-21

Description of Service: SUMMER ONLY, JULY- AUGUST.   Assessment in MAY and JUNE for placement in paid employment at non-profit  companies. Must be economically disadvantaged (standard lower level income), have disability, or be physically challenged to qualify. Accommodates for summer school to some degree if necessary.

Length of Participation: 2 months

Description of Service: The Enrichment and Referral Center has a partnering working relationship with GIFTS (Grand Island Families, Town and Schools) Program. This is a school-community collaboration (several agencies partnering together) to provide Grand Island residents coordinated access to prevention and intervention services including: information, referral and follow-up to community resources, individual, family and group counseling, EPIC parent workshops, preventative community and school initiatives, Reality Cafe Teen Center, Advantage Afterschool Program for Grand Island Middle School students.
